What is GYNO-DAKTARIN and what it is used
GYNO-DAKTARIN treat infections of the vagina. It is primarily used for fungal infections. Signs of these infections include itching, redness and / or whitish discharge.
2. What you should know before using GYNO-DAKTARIN
Do not use GYNO-DAKTARIN:
if you are allergic to miconazole or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
Warnings and Precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using GYNO-DAKTARIN.
Make sure not to infect other people: do not allow others to use your towel or cloth.
Your intimate partner should also be treated to not be infected again. If in doubt, consult your doctor.
Rubber contraceptives:
You should not allow contact between the rubber (latex) contraception such as a condom or diaphragm (rubber cap inserted into the vagina) and GYNO-DAKTARIN. Ingredients of GYNO-DAKTARIN can damage rubber (latex) and so will not be protected against pregnancy or sexually transmitted diseases.
Other medicines and GYNO-DAKTARIN
Oral anticoagulants (blood thinning medicines): Ask your doctor or pharmacist before starting treatment if you are taking blood-thinning drugs such as warfarin.
Other medicines and side-effects caused by other medicines may increase if taken together with miconazole.
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines.
GYNO-DAKTARIN with food, drinks and alcohol
Not applicable.
Pregnancy, lactation and fertility
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine.
Driving and using machines
Not applicable.
GYNO-DAKTARIN contains small amounts of sodium etilparahidroksibenzoat and sodium propyl parahydroxybenzoate, which may cause allergic reactions (possibly delayed) and exceptionally, bronchospasm.
3. How to use GYNO-DAKTARIN
Only for vaginal administration.
The drug is generally used as indicated below, but your doctor may want to adapt the scheme to your own illness. Always follow your doctor’s advice. Place 1 vaginal capsule every day in the evening before going to bed for three days.
Place the capsule as possible into the vagina. The easiest way to do this is while lying with knees bent and folded. The best time to put a bedtime as capsule will remain where it is placed.
Continue treatment completely, even if you have itching, redness or whitish discharge. Continue with the implementation of GYNO-DAKTARIN even if your menstrual period begins before the completion of the treatment course.
Always use this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor or pharmacist. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
If you use more than the amount of GYNO-DAKTARIN
If you are using GYNO-DAKTARIN more often than prescribed by your doctor, there is no urgent reason to worry. This is usually not harmful. If you have ingested the drug inadvertently, this usually is not a problem. However, to make sure there are no problems, call your doctor.
Information for doctor in case of overdose
In case of accidental ingestion of large quantities of the drug, an appropriate method of gastric emptying may be applied, if deemed appropriate. If the patient is taking certain other medicines (eg. Oral hypoglycemics and phenytoin), their effects and side effects may be intensified.
If you forget to use GYNO-DAKTARIN
Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose GYNO-DAKTARIN.
If you stop using GYNO-DAKTARIN
If you have any further questions on the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
4. Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
GYNO-DAKTARIN usually well tolerated. At the beginning of treatment may arise growing redness, itching or burning sensation. In most cases, these side effects disappear spontaneously. However, if they worry you or if you get hives, skin rash or abdominal cramps, stop treatment and consult your doctor. You can be hypersensitive to the drug.
If you get any side effects, tell your doctor or pharmacist. This includes any possible effects not listed in this leaflet.
5. How to store GYNO-DAKTARIN
Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
Do not store above 30 ° C.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the carton. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
Do not use GYNO-DAKTARIN if you notice visible signs of deterioration of the product.
Do not dispose of medications in wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. These measures will help to protect the environment.
