Why it's used
Omedar Tablet is used for the short-term treatment of ulcers in the upper part of the small intestine (duodenal ulcer). This medicine works by preventing the amount of acid production in the stomach by blocking the organic enzyme system. This medicine helps by reducing the level of acid in the stomach. Omedar is also used for the short-term treatment of stomach ulcer, to treat heartburn and indigestion caused by GERD, for the short-term treatment of inflammation of the food pipe, for the long-term treatment of overproduction of gastric acid (Zollinger-Ellison syndrome), for the long-term treatment of cancer of the endocrine gland, and for the long-term treatment of increase in the number of mast cells in the body (systemic mastocytosis).
Omedar Tabletmay also be used together with other medicines to treat certain conditions as recommended by the doctor. It is used in combination with Clarithromycin, or Amoxicillin to treat ulcers in the upper part of the small intestine called as duodenal ulcers. It is also used with Clarithromycin, or Metronidazole to remove Helicobacter pylori bacteria which leads to stomach ulcers.
Proton Pump Inhibitors
Omedar is a prescription medicine that belongs to a class of medicines called Proton Pump Inhibitors. Proton-pump inhibitors (PPIs) are a group of medicines that significantly reduce stomach acid production. Excess acid production causes diseases related to the stomach and intestines. PPIs are used to treat such disorders.

It relieves symptoms such as heartburn, difficulty swallowing, and persistent cough. This medication helps heal acid damage to the stomach and esophagus, helps prevent ulcers, and may help prevent cancer of the esophagus. Omeprazole belongs to a class of drugs known as proton pump inhibitors (PPIs).

If you are self-treating with this medication, over-the-counter omeprazole products are used to treat frequent heartburn (occurring 2 or more days a week). Since it may take 1 to 4 days to have full effect, these products do not relieve heartburn right away.
